Into the Valley of Death

rode the six hundred...

Finally, after much wailing and gnashing of teeth I have a blue card number and a confirmed date to start my teaching rounds.

Come Wednesday I'm off to my old HS to see if I can teach kids in this country. Hopefully all I learnt over ten years teaching in Japan will come in handy.

Come what may, I'm really excited to once again be moving forward and able to stick to my original plan.

The sun is shining again.

Tiny Monster.

This little lizard had a hard life, and things didn't seem to get much better after it ended.

It's less 3cm long in total, I guess, curled up like this about 1.5 across. Amazing to see so much detail of this poor little dude.

I don't know

who made this statement, but I agree with them.

Another bike ride find. Awesome.

Other Stuff.

I'm still loving the new camera. Today I took this picture of a weird little green spider on my kitchen window. Obviously the spider is on the OTHER side.

Tonight I also looke at this for the first time in many, many years...

These days I have the massive workload of one hour per week of tutoring - mostly Japanese, but I got a question about Chemistry tonight and had to look up the answer, and it was fun.

Apologies for the interruption to regular programming, I promise to get back to bikes tomorrow.

You know you're a geek when...

...photos like this make you happy.

Fate brought me a new camera (well, and you too, Pop - thanks!) and this is one of my favourite results of playing with the macro setting today. New desktop background.

Bike geek and proud.

Singletrack Pixels

Mother's Day and what better way to spend it than a ride with a mate.

Bunyaville Singletrack was tons of fun as usual. Dusty trails winding through the unnaturally lush, green bush dropped us down into creek beds then taunted us to ride up again for another dose of grin enducing fun. Jumps were jumped, corners were railed, 'moments' had where 'things' got a bit - as they're known in the business - squirrely, a bit pear shaped and sometimes a bit sideways, but luck was on our side, no crashes just a long string of grins and Peter Pan moments where we wondered how it must suck to grow up.

We'll be back next week.
