Finished!

Just completed my last piece of assessment for Uni for the year - very, very happy!

It's all gone pretty fast, but I'm looking forward to a break. Don't quite need the three months I have, but oh well, I'll try to make the most of it.

I see beer in my near future...

Ouch.

180km total for the weekend. 78km today with James and the Hikaru gang - fun. Never ridden with a big group before on the road, nor have I ever ridden that fast for that long.

My legs are shot. Why? well, according to James' super-wonder gadget, yesterday's ride contained 1089m of climbing, maxing out at 21.3%. To get an idea of what that really means, this picture is quite useful:
When I got home from today's ride I also jumped on the bathroom scales...75.6kg! Yikes! I'm half the man I used to be!

101.4

Klickometers.

Big ride. Lots of Hills. Yes, that capital h is intentional - a 21.3% gradient is deserving of an upper case H. I walked it. James got (unknowingly) to within 100m of the top before he stopped for a break. It's going to eat at him until he can come back and finish it.

Fun with Bikes.

On the road again...

78km of it yesterday. Fantastic ride - I spent a good part of it in Gifu Prefecture, and it was beautiful.

No photos, but I do have this:

This just in...

Photos have arrived all the way from Sunny Melbourne. As mentioned in a previous post, AL wanted to see what the inside of his leg looked like, and here he is booking himself in to have his curiousity repaired.
Isn't mountain biking fun?

It's Wednesday.

two days to go until another long weekend. Lack of sleep last weekend (in spite of my best efforts) has made this week pretty tough. Seems the coffee theory didn't prove true - at least last week there was no collaboration between coffee intake and (lack of) sleep.

In other news, I'm now officially scared of the internet. More unwelcomed, ininvited news on Sunday night. I'm now really looking forward to a time when I can unplug. Gosh knows when that'll be, though.

Two little jaunts around the local park after work yesterday and today; fun but lack of sleep seems to hurt the legs as much as it does the head. At least I got to use the word 'jaunt.' Don't overrate that. How often have you used it lately?

That's all I got. Deal with it.

Playing Hooky.

Yesterday was supposed to be a study day, but my brain rebelled against reading more edu-ma-cation theory and with the weather forecast predicting a rainy perfect-for-study Sunday I headed out for a ride.

Got home three and a half hours later.

I went up here. This is a trail 'made' (destroyed?) by motorcycle trials riders.
Then down the other side:
Found a spot where the local DH boys play...yes, that chute is steep and chewed out to pedal depth. No, I didn't ride it. I shamefully crawled down grateful noone was nearby to see what I've become.
Ended up on the wrong side of the mountain, but there was rice. I've waited many years to take this photo.
Just in case climbing the mountain didn't hurt enough the first time, I chose to go back over it to get home.
Nice ride. Woke up this morning to sunshine. Do I do it again?
